## Bible translations

Every Bible verse carries 6 English translations. **BSB (Berean Standard Bible)** is the default: modern English, translated from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, and displayed first in results.

| Version | What it is | When to reach for it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **BSB** | Berean Standard Bible | Default. Clear modern English, close to the original languages |
| **KJV** | King James Version (Pure Cambridge Edition) | Traditional wording, familiar phrasing |
| **ASV** | American Standard Version | Very literal, formal equivalence |
| **JPS** | JPS Tanakh 1917 | Jewish translation of the Hebrew scriptures |
| **NIV** | New International Version | Widely used in churches, readable balance |
| **WEY** | Weymouth New Testament | Modern English — New Testament only |

Switching versions happens in the verse panel: open a verse, pick a version from the dropdown, and the text swaps in place.

## The original text

- **Hebrew** — selecting **JPS** on an Old Testament verse reveals the Hebrew text beneath the English, displayed right-to-left.
- **Arabic** — Quran results show the Arabic verse with the surah name, plus the **tafsir** (classical commentary) where one exists for that ayah.
- **Hadith** — narration in Arabic and English, with its authenticity grade shown as a badge.

:::note
Original-language detail also lives inside the analysis itself. The "What It Says" section routinely unpacks a Hebrew or Greek term, and the Quran results carry the tafsir inline rather than hiding it behind a click.

## Hadith coverage

Hadith is curated rather than exhaustive: **432 narrations**, cross-referenced to the Quran and the Bible. They come from three collections — **Sahih al-Bukhari**, **Sahih Muslim**, and **Sunan Abu Dawud** — each carrying its traditional authenticity grade: *Sahih* (sound), *Hasan* (good), or *Daif* (weak).

That curation is deliberate. The narrations included are the ones that carry context the Quran and Bible alone do not, such as Bukhari 4:584 on the Zamzam spring, which explains the "barren valley" of Quran 14:37.
